Tangshan launched heavy pollution weather emergency notice

Jan 17 (LTIT) –China's top steelmaking city Tangshan, in Hebei province, issued a level II, or orange, pollution alert effective from 12:00 CST on January 17 to 24:00 CST on January 19, the city’s environmental authorities said on Thursday January 17.

 

During the period, sintering machines in steel plants assessed as Categories B and C were required to cut capacity by 50% and 60%, respectively; sintering machines in Category D mills were ordered to close down.

 

Mills in Category A that’s located in urban areas faced cutbacks of 40% on their sintering machines, while that’s located out of urban city should cut 30% capacity.

 

Coking duration across coking plants have to be extended. All mining and ore crushing companies in Tangshan were asked to suspend amid the smog alert.

 

From 20:00 CST January 17 to 8:00 CST January 20, transport vehicles are banned from delivering cargoes at ports.
