South Korea's imports of aluminium scrap from the US stand 5% higher at 120,000 tonnes in Jan-May

Aug 11(LTIT) – South Korea's imports of aluminium scrap from the US stood at 22,300 tonnes in May, with a year-on-year increase of 5.69%. South Korea had imported 21,100 tonnes in May 2019. On a monthly basis, imports reduced by 7.4% from 24,100 tonnes in April 2020, as updated by the US Census Bureau.

 

In the first five months of 2020, South Korea imported 120,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap, from 114,000 tonnes imported in the first five months of 2019. This marked an increase of 5.26% year-on-year.

 

South Korea's imports of total aluminium (semi-finished products, crude metals and alloy and scrap) from the US stood at 23,900 tonnes in May 2020, an increase of 4.82% from 22,800 tonnes in May 2019. Imports declined by 9.4% from April’s imports of 26,400 tonnes.

 

In January-May total imports came in at 131,000 tonnes, an increase from 128,000 tonnes imported in January-May 2019.
