U.S. Nickel Scrap Exports Dipped 13%

July 8 (LTIT) –The U.S. exports of nickel waste and scrap registered huge decline during the initial five-month period of the current year. The latest trade data published by the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that the exports collapsed by over 13% during this period. This is upon comparison with the same period a year before. The exports were valued at $44.52 million as compared with $51.29 million a year before.

 

Through May this year, the top trade partner of the U.S. was Canada. The nickel scrap exports from the U.S. to Canada totalled $21.6 million. The exports to Canada witnessed huge decline by nearly 37% over the previous year. The second largest destination of exports was Japan, whose imports from the U.S. totalled $6.33 million. In third place was the UK with imports of $5.52 million. The other key export destinations were Australia ($3.70 million) and Germany ($2.02 million).
